Wall construction

Natural, efficient and durable

The wall construction our Design tiny houses and saunas, as well as the modular houses as well as the storage cubes combines modern timber engineering with high-quality, sustainable materials. The result is a construction that is energy-efficient, long-lasting, and creates a comfortable indoor climate.

The base consists of an 80 mm thick solid CLT panel (Cross Laminated Timber). This cross-layered solid wood element provides exceptional structural strength, stability, and a natural living feel. At the same time, the CLT layer already contributes to thermal insulation and ensures an airtight building envelope.

This is followed by a
150 mm thick high-performance Rockwool façade insulation layer. This mineral wool insulation offers excellent thermal performance, is non-combustible, and also provides outstanding sound insulation—ideal for comfortable living in a compact space.

A windproof film is then applied to protect the structure. It prevents wind and moisture from penetrating from the outside while remaining vapor-permeable, allowing any internal moisture to escape outward.

The next layer consists of a substructure made of
vertical (40x40 – 40mm) and horizontal (20x40 -20 mm) wooden battens. This creates a ventilated cavity behind the façade, allowing air to circulate and ensuring that the construction remains dry—an essential factor for long-term durability.

The outermost layer is a 25 mm thick vertical timber cladding, made for example from thermally modified pine. It gives our Design tiny houses and saunas, as well as our modular houses and storage cubes its distinctive natural appearance while reliably protecting the underlying layers from weather exposure.

This carefully designed wall construction combines strength, energy efficiency, and aesthetics in a perfectly balanced system.
